These vintage cufflinks are engraved and date back to the 1950s. The cufflinks are made out of sterling silver, and are stamped on the cufflink bar.
The cufflinks are marked with a decorative "E" and "3-6-54". The date corresponds to March6, 1954 which was a Saturday. I often wonder who and what the cufflinks commemorate. As the date was a Saturday I wonder if it was a gift to a groom from his family or even his new bride.
The cufflinks are oval in shape and they would be easy to use even in today's contemporary shirts. The cufflink bars are marked STERLING ECCO. The use of the word sterling does indicate that the cufflinks are vintage as more modern cufflinks made out of silver would be marked 925.
ECCO is the manufacturer of the cufflinks and they have been manufacturing cufflinks and men's jewellery items since the 1920s.
