Victorian Turquoise and Pearl Ring / Engraved Pearl and Turquoise Ring / Victorian Antique Ring
What is truly remarkable about this ring is that it is engraved on the underside with a date. On the back it is engraved: Sept 8th, 1879.
This date precedes the date in which Edison demonstrates the first lightbulb. Talk about a historic ring!
The ring is set with six (6) turquoise stones. The stones are a lovely Robin's Egg blue, but one of the stones has changed colour to a deep teal blue. Turquoise can naturally change colour. This can be caused by the light, or by a chemical reaction brought about by cosmetics, dust or the acidity of the skin.
The ring is also set with four (4) white pearls set in a buttercup setting. The pearls are original to the ring and have a lovely silvery luster and shine.
The band is a four (4) band ring, so it would be difficult to size this ring as each one of the bands would need to be sized individually.
Ring Size: 6.0 US
Item Weight: 4.14 g
The ring is made out of 18K Yellow Gold. It is not stamped but tested as gold.
