Victorian Ruby and Diamond Ring / Three stone Ruby Engagement Ring / Antique Ring

The red blood-like color of rubies associated them with life itself and also with moral and physical purity. Due to the blood-red color, ruby was frequently used to treat ailments of the heart and circulatory system.
Coveted by royalty and the wealthy, rubies often were symbols of power and status. This stunning ruby is flanked by two diamonds and would make a stunning engagement ring.
The ring is a Victorian ring (circa 1880s - 1910) and has old vintage cut natural gemstones. The ruby is an octagonal in shape and is estimated to weigh 0.35 cts.
The two diamonds are cut in Old European Cut and measure 3mm round. Each diamond is estimated to weigh 0.10 cts each. Old European cut diamonds are known for their large facets, which are larger than round brilliant cuts. They are easily recognizable by the small circle at the center of the diamond’s table. This circle comes from the old European cut’s large culet. These diamond cuts were popular in Europe hence the name.
The gold is 18K yellow gold, and the ring is hallmarked on the inside of the shank however the hallmark is hard to read and decipher.
