Greek mythology stated that opals originated from Zeus' joyful tears after winning the battle against the Titans. Meanwhile, Australian aborigines believed that the Creator came to Earth on a rainbow, leaving these colorful stones where his feet touched the ground.
These earrings have stunning opal centres that they will bring joyful tears to your eyes. The opals are what are referred to as "Opal Triplets". Triplets are a partially fabricated gemstone, consisting of a fine sliver of light opal (usually 0.5mm thick), adhered to a dark backing, and with a clear synthetic capping. They are created to give the appearance of rare Black Opals, at a fraction of a cost.
The opals have great play of colour and shine and display red, yellow, green, blue and orange. The are held by three (3) prongs and set in a floral setting.
The earrings are not marked, and when tested it tests as gold filled, which is common for vintage jewellery. The earrings come with butterfly earring backs.
The opals measure 6mm round. The earrings measure 9.5 mm round.
