May’s birthstone has interesting history and lore that is told around the globe. Emerald once upon a time symbolized power as well as rule in early Egypt and Babylonia. Cleopatra legendary mining in Egypt, and royalty from Persia to India and afar rushed to acquire them. The ancient Roman novelist Pliny in the past famously observed of emerald to facilitate “Nothing greens greener.”
This ring has a truly stunning bright green Emerald. The stone measures 5mm x 3mm and is a natural emerald. The estimated carat weight of the gem is 0.30 cts. On either side of the emerald are two diamonds. Each diamond is a round brilliant cut diamond and measures 3mm round. The total estimated carat weight for both diamonds are 0.20 cts.
All gemstones and diamonds are original to the ring and natural, earth mined gemstones.
The ring is made out of 14K Yellow and White Gold. The top is made out of white gold, and the shank is made out of Yellow Gold. The shank of the ring has been stamped for gold purity and manufacturer's trademark. The ring is stamped: 14K / LC inside a diamond shape / C with a maple leaf.
The manufacturer was Lamond C Fils out of Montreal, Quebec. The company succeeded to Caron Brothers around 1930. The C with a maple leaf indicates that when an article that is wholly manufacturer's in Canada is composed of a precious metal of a quality prescribed in the regulations and has an authorized quality mark applied to it, there may be applied to the article as national mark.
This is truly an outstanding Art Deco ring that is as stunning today as when it was first manufactured.
