Whether you are trying to channel an Audrey Hepburn in a Breakfast at Tiffany's moment, or just admire and cherish cool antique things, then this antique cigarette holder is for you. The workmanship is simply divine with the fine filigree silver work.

The cigarette holder became a fashion accessory for women in the early 1920s and remained popular until the 1960s. They were designed to protected fingers or gloves, as well as teeth, from staining, allowed the cigarette to be smoked down while keeping fingers cool, and kept smoke away from sensitive eyes, but it was really all about the elegance and show.

Some of the most famous women of the era used cigarette holders including royalty, actresses, and heiresses.

This one is made up of silver that has been pulled into fine threads, and then worked to create designs like fine lace out of the silver. The base is made out of Bakelite. Bakelite was one of the earliest synthetic materials to transform the material basis of modern life. It was named for its inventor, Leo Hendrik Baekeland (1863–1944), who discovered the durable plastic in 1907.

The cigarette holder measures 3 inches in length. The opening in the silver has a diameter of 8mm which will hold standard cigarettes.

The piece is not marked, but it does test as silver.
