Synthetic Pink Sapphire Ring / Rose Gold Sapphire Ring / Vintage Soviet Hallmarked Ring
This ring is very cool as you can pin point its date in time due to its distinct hallmark. The ring is a 14K rose gold band with a synthetic pink sapphire made very much in the style of medieval rings. The ring is an antique table-cut stone that is very much a common cut style of the medieval period.
The ring is hallmarked for 1979 and Leningrad and the hammer and sickle of the former Soviet Union. The hammer and sickle is one of the modern world’s most recognisable symbols. It instantly evokes the former Soviet Union and communism. For some people around the globe, it remains a beacon of hope for a better tomorrow. The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
The hallmarks are placed in an European fashion on the outside of the shank. The ring is 14K rose gold.
The stone is fashioned in an antique table cut that measures 4.5 mm x 4.5 mm. The top of the table stands up taller than the gold bezel. The gold bezel holds the stone safe and secure in its setting and you don't have to worry about losing the stone.
The band itself is comfortable and makes a great ring to wear everyday. The simple band measures 2mm thick and it goes all the way around without tapering. The only embellishment on the band are three (3) X's on either side. The band and bezel are smooth and it won't catch on sweaters or shirts.
This makes a great ring for someone who wants the look of a medieval ring or just a history lover who want's something from a country that no longer exists.
