Hematite and Marcasite Sterling Silver Ring / Art Deco Pinky Ring
Hematite is a grounding stone believed to absorb negative energy and to restore balance. Historically, it was highly prized by the Victorians for mourning jewelry and later in the Art Deco era for its striking, geometric shine. Today, it remains a favorite for carving, beads, intaglios, and men's fashion pieces.
This pinky ring is made out of sterling silver and the centre is an elongated oval hematite that has a highly polished finish. Surrounding the ring in a lovely Art Deco frame are rose cut marcasite stones.
Its popularity in Europe exploded during the Victorian era. After the death of Prince Albert in 1861, Queen Victoria entered a long mourning period, during which opulent diamonds were considered too garish. Marcasite became the perfect, elegant alternative for fashionable nobility. In crystal lore, marcasite is often associated with wisdom, courage, and balance. It is believed to reduce tension and inspire creativity while promoting mental clarity.
The ring is set with all stones which is not typical for these rings, as often you will find them with a stone missing.
The central hematite stone measures 13mm x 7mm in the bezel setting. A bezel setting makes the setting for the stone secure and accents it in a lovely bright silver frame.
The surrounding stones are sixty (60) marcasite stones.
The ring is stamped for metal purity and manufacturer's trademark but it is a partial stamp, and so it is difficult to make out the manufacturer. The ring is made out of sterling silver.
