Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Ring / Statement Cocktail Ring

Art Nouveau jewelry (roughly 1890–1910) is characterized by a departure from traditional, gem-heavy designs, focusing instead on artistic expression, nature, and intricate craftsmanship. It is defined by fluid, organic, and asymmetrical lines, often using materials chosen for their colour and beauty rather than their inherent value. 

This ring does have amazing colour - the rich cobalt blue reminds me of Royalty. Art Nouveau pieces were meant to be evocative, often drawing on mythical or ethereal themes. Cobalt added a sense of depth and mystery.

Jewelers during this period would incorporate non-precious or organic materials to achieve specific colours or textures. This stone is a stunning cobalt blue glass, and there are small nicks on the facets of the stone and slight abrasion on the bottom. The stone is slightly loose in the setting, and you can hear it rattle a bit. 

The sterling silver setting is very typical of the Art Nouveau period with the flowing lines and floral elements.
