Art Deco Platinum Patterned Wedding Band / Size 9 Platinum Thin Wedding Band

$575.00
UGC RIN-24-0023

This lovely platinum Art Deco Wedding band is still timeless and will make a wonderful addition to your vintage engagement ring.

Platinum jewelry was popular in Art Deco Jewelry. This resurgence was partially made possible because of the discovery of the world’s largest platinum deposit: the Merensky Reef in northeast South Africa. It remained the metal of choice throughout the Art Deco period and into the 1940s when it was declared a strategic mineral in 1942 by the US government. Platinum was deemed essential for the war effort and its use for jewelry then became prohibited by law in the US. In the 1940s yellow gold then took over as the metal of choice for jewellery.

This ring measures 2mm wide and weights 2.8g. Although the ring is not hallmarked on the inside of the shank it has been tested to be platinum.

The pattern goes all the way around the band, so sizing would be difficult without an interruption to the pattern.

The best thing is that this ring is a size 9.0 US. These rings are very difficult to find in large sizes so this is a truly rare find.

Size: 9.0 US
Width: 2mm
Weight: 2.8g
Circa: 1930s
