Tiger's Eye Belcher Set Ring / Tiger's Eye Pinky Ring

The oval Tiger's Eye is cut in a way that it resembles an eye. This cabochon gem has an optical property called chatoyancy. Chatoyant refers to a gemstone's "cat's-eye" effect, where a, luminous, undulating band of light moves across a cabochon-cut stone, resembling a cat's pupil. Derived from the French chatoyer ("to shine like a cat's eye"), this phenomenon occurs when light reflects off parallel inclusions or fibrous structures. 

The ring is set in a 10K belcher setting. A Belcher setting is a 19th-century vintage ring style where prongs are carved directly out of the ring's shank, allowing a gemstone to sit low and flush within the mounting. Popularized in the Victorian era, this design features U-shaped, petal-like prongs, often nicknamed a "buttercup" setting, providing superior protection and reducing snagging. 

The rich buttery gold is such a compliment to the rich brown tones found in the Tiger's Eye stone. The ring is stamped on the inside of the shank for metal purity and manufacturer's trademark. It is stamped: 10K TJE. No information has been found on the manufacturer.

The tiger's eye stone measures 6mm x 4mm. 

It is currently a small size, but this would make a great pinky ring for your vintage ring stack. It can be sized for an additional fee as the band is plain in the back and it would not show signs of sizing.
