1930s Vintage Brooch / Glass Costume Brooch / Orange Glass Filigree Brooch

This stunning glass and filigree setting is amazing. The filigree setting is ornate and the metal is worked in such a way that it appears that there are small diamonds in the settings.

Filigree settings with rhinestones were popular. During the depression incomes were low, so the majority of jewelry constructed in this decade was made with pot metal, also called white metal or spelter, which was a hard metal alloy comprised of antimony, cadium, tin, lead and bismuth.

The metal on this brooch is unmarked and untested. The central element of this brooch is set on an orange glass gem which adds a punch of colour.

The glass does show some signs of wear but only when you examine the stone up close.

This is perfect statement to dress up your blazer or sweater.
