Three Stone Art Deco Engagement Ring / Circa 1938 Diamond Ring

This Art Deco diamond engagement ring is a testament to a love that stands the test of time. It bears the hallmarks of a love story and it's so wonderful to wear and hold history quite literally in your hands.

The ring is hallmarked on the inside of the shank. It bears the initial of the original lovers, the date of their union , the manufacturer's hallmark and the metal purity. The lovers initials are: R. B. - D. H.

The diamonds in this ring are natural earth mined diamonds. The central stone is estimated to weigh 0.15 cts with the two side stones estimated to weigh an additional 0.10 cts. The diamonds are set in an illusion sitting to make the diamonds appear larger than they really are. 

The diamonds are set securely set in platinum. Through the 1930s, platinum was the metal of choice for the masses. Unfortunately, another war would encroach upon the rare mineral. In 1942, the US government declared platinum a strategic mineral, prohibiting its use in any capacity besides the industry of war.

The shank is made of of 18 ct yellow gold, with the platinum head extending down the shoulders of the shank.
