In mythology, topaz is portrayed as a gem of peace and healing. It was first found by the Romans over two millennia ago on the Island of Topazios in the Red Sea. They believed it could protect its wearer from enemies and bring reconciliation. The gem was also worshipped in old Egypt, where it was said to hold mystical powers given by the sun god Ra. In South America, many tribes believed topaz could dispel sickness when the moon was full.

The natural blue topaz measures 15mm x 10mm and is estimated to weigh 7 cts.

The stone is set securely in a solid silver setting with lovely details on the shoulders. There is a filigree window pane on either side of the ring. The filigree details are also very solid, despite its delicate look.

The width of the ring measures 14mm at the top, and on the bottom of the shank it tapers down to 4mm.
