This ring is a true showstopper. Sapphires, particularly blue sapphires, have been steeped in lore and legend for centuries, symbolizing various virtues and powers across different cultures. This ring is set with natural sapphires so blue that it is so calming and serene to look at it. But the natural bright diamonds shine and sparkle and add flair and brilliance.
This ring is set with five (5) natural earth mined sapphires. The sapphires tapers in size and the largest measures 3.5 mm round and is estimated to weigh 0.24 cts. The next two largest sapphires measures 2.5 mm and are estimated to weigh 0.09 cts each. And the smallest sapphires measures 1.5 mm and are estimated to weigh 0.03 cts each.
Total estimated carat weight for the sapphires are 0.48 cts total.
The ring is surrounded by twenty-four (24) natural earth mined diamonds and they are estimated to weigh 0.30 cts total.
The ring is stamped and hallmarked on the inside of the shank. The stamp is hard to read as it appears to have been doubled stamped. The hallmark reads as follows:
D & E (manufacturer's hallmark) / Crown (Queen Victoria's Diamond Crown) / 375 / Anchor / X
The D & E hallmark is for Deakin & Francis Ltd / The Crown indicates that the piece is gold and the 375 indicates that it is made out of 9k gold. The Anchor indicates that it has assayed and hallmarked in Birmingham and finally the X indicates that it was manufactured in 1997.
It's amazing to find out so much information from such small hallmarks stamped on the inside of a ring. I wonder how it had journeyed across the ocean and got here.
The piece is made out of both white and yellow gold. The diamonds and gemstones are set in white gold and the gems are securely set in their prongs.
