The Art Deco movement is sometimes dated to between 1920 to 1930, but its beginnings started around 1915 and continued into the 30s. While the styles of the time were in full swing between the 1920s and 1930s, and exploded in the mid-1920s thanks to the "Exposition des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes" held in 1925 in Paris, Art Deco rings may be found dated from 1915 and up to around the mid-1930s.
During the Art Deco era of the 1920s, white gold became immensely popular, especially in engagement rings and other high-end jewelry pieces. The clean, sophisticated look of white gold complemented the geometric designs and vibrant gemstones of the Art Deco style.
This band would have been paired with an engagement ring. The diamonds are held securely in a X pattern, and this is very much the geometric designs that the Art Deco period is known for.
There are five (5) natural diamonds, all of which are original to the ring. The diamonds are small to just give a hint of sparkle. This could be towards the end of the Deco period as we head into the Great Depression where finances were tight for luxury items. The diamonds are estimated to weigh 0.10 cts total.
The ring is stamped for gold purity and manufacturer's trademark. The ring is stamped 14K MODELCO. I have not found any information on the manufacturer.
The ring measures 3mm at the top of the band, and then gently tapers down to 2mm at the shank.
