Art Deco Engraved Signet Ring / "EP" Initials Signet Ring / Gold Signet Ring with Engraving

This Art Deco signet ring is engraved with the initials "E.P." In collecting antique jewellery, I often wonder who they had once belonged to, but the engraving on the inside of the shank gives us a bit of insight as to who E.P. was. On the inside in a script font is engraved "MOTHER".
Originating from the Latin word “signum” meaning “sign”, signet rings originated amongst religious leaders and Pharaohs. These rings were used to mark and seal documents by pressing the face which were historically marked with a unique family crest, into hot wax. Signet rings have evolved to be a more personal jewellery.
On the shoulders of the ring are engraved ferns, that tapers down the sides. The shank is in excellent condition and has lots of life to the ring still.
The inside of the ring is also stamped with the manufacturer's trademark and gold purity. The ring is stamped 10K CR. No information has been found on the maker of this ring.
