Sapphire and Diamond Ring / Sapphire Engagement Ring / September Birthstone Ring

Blue sapphires are associated with numerous myths and legends, including the ancient Persian belief that the earth rests on a giant sapphire and the sky is its reflection. In medieval times, they symbolized heaven and divine blessings, were thought to ward off evil and protect royalty from harm, and were believed to have healing properties.

This lovely ring is set with a natural blue sapphire that measures 7mm x 5mm oval. The blue sapphire is estimated to weigh 1.0 cts. It is further enhanced with six (six) natural diamonds on each side of the shoulders.

The diamonds are small brilliant cut diamonds and earth-mined natural. The diamonds are estimated to weigh a total of 0.08 cts.

The blue sapphire is natural earth mined gemstone as you can see the colour zoning in the stone, which is only visible when you shine light through the stone (while unworn) as in the photos. Colour zoning in sapphires refers to the uneven distribution of colour within a single crystal, presenting as distinct bands, patches, or geometric gradients. It is an incredibly common natural phenomenon that occurs as the corundum crystal grows inside its host rock over millions of years.

The ring is made out of 14K white gold, and has been hallmarked for metal purity and manufacturer's trademark on the inside of the shank. The shank is marked 14K however the manfucturer's trademark is double stamped and hard to make out.

The shank is a unique design that keeps the focus on the centre of the ring. It tapers up from the shoulders and is high enough that it would make a wonderful engagement ring, as it would pair nicely with a wedding band.
