Guilloche Enamelled Lingerie Pins / Enamelled Teal Blue Baby Bib Bar Pins / Antique Lingerie Bar Pins

This matched pair of baby pins were traditionally purchased for a new baby, and were used to hold bibs or used in place of buttons. Then as the baby grew up into a young lady, they would then be worn as lingerie pins to hold the straps of ladies undergarments or to fasten cuffs. They are great to keep bra straps from being seen!

The fact that this is still a perfect matched pair, with no chips in the enamel makes me believe that they were not worn much and taken care of. 

The clasp has a secure clasp, but with a guard so that the baby does not harm themselves with the pin. This type of clasp was common in the early 19th century.

The pins are made out of sterling silver and are hallmarked for metal purity. The pins are both stamped "STERLING" and "PAT. 1907" Sterling is also a good indication that these pins are antique as modern silver jewellery would be marked 925.

The colour is a beautiful teal blue with a white circle in the centre. 

The enamel is intact but on one pin there are scratches on the enamel.  The condition is indicative of the age of the item and has been reflected in the price.

The pins are 1 inch in length.

They make a unique gift for a baby or new bride for that something blue.
