SKU RIN-22-0132
This mid-century beauty is a sweet and timeless engagement ring. What better symbol for your love than this diamond engagement ring which has stood the test of time.
After the end of the war, jewellery production began to ramp up again without restrictions and in 1947, De Beers ran the infamous ‘a diamond is forever’ campaign. Almost overnight, diamonds became the engagement ring gemstone with modestly-sized diamonds being presented in white gold illusion settings in order to make them appear larger.
Diamonds were scarce during the war years and engagement rings from this era often featured the diamonds which they could find or older diamonds taken from older pieces.
This ring features a brilliant cut diamond set in an illusion setting, with a yellow gold and white gold band.
An illusion setting is a prong setting designed to make a diamond look bigger than it actually is. This is accomplished by a ring of metal surrounding the girdle of the diamond that is often brightly cut. This ring diffuses the outline of the stone causing it to look larger.
The center diamond is estimated to weigh 0.10 cts and is set in white gold. The side diamonds are estimated to be 0.06 cts.
Total estimated diamond weight 0.16 cts. All diamonds are Natural.
This ring is hallmarked with the maker's mark and for gold purity. The gold is both white and yellow 14K - 18K gold. The maker's mark is partially legible and is marked RJ . I have not found any information on the original manufacturer. On the other side of the shank it is marked LUCKY 2M
Currently the ring is a size 7.5 US. The ring can be sized.
Item Weight: 2.25 g
As the ring indicates, if you wear this - you will be lucky.
