Art Deco Engagement Ring / Old European Cut Diamond Ring

This step cut Art Deco Engagement ring is just a stunner! Geometric patterns were fundamental to Art Deco jewelry because they embodied a, modernist, post-WWI reaction against the organic, flowing lines of the earlier Art Nouveau style. 

The ring is set with an old European cut diamond. Old European Cut (OEC) diamonds, popular from the late 19th to early 20th century, are characterized by a round, hand-cut shape with a small table, high crown, and open culet. 

Older diamonds may sometimes be taken out of older pieces and reset into sleek modern designs - and this looks like one of those pieces. 

The ring has a beautiful step cut appearance and it is such a stunning look. The ring is made out of 14K white gold and it is stamped on the inside of the shank for the manufacturer's trademark and metal purity. No information has been found about the manufacturer.

The diamond is set in an illusion setting which makes the diamond appear much larger than it really is. The diamond measures 3mm round and is estimated to weigh 0.12 cts.
