Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring / Statement Sapphire Ring
Sapphires have been prized for thousands of years, with early civilizations like the Romans and Greeks associating them with protection and heaven. As engagement rings, they became popular among elites in the Middle Ages to symbolize, love, fidelity, and truth. Known for their durability (9 on the Mohs scale) and deep blue color, they are a traditional alternative to diamonds, favoured by royalty, including Queen Victoria and famously, Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. The same ring given to Lady Diana Spencer now graces the hand of the latest Princess of Wales.
This ring features a natural blue sapphire that measures 5mm round. The centre stone is estimated to weigh 0.60 cts.
The ring is further enhanced with natural earth mined diamonds. The ring has six (6) white diamonds that measure 2mm round. All the diamonds have an estimated total carat weight of 0.18 cts.
The ring is made out of 14K white gold and it is engraved on the inside of the shank with metal purity and manufacturer's trademark. The ring is marked 14K FDJ. No information is found on the manufacturer.
The ring would make a fabulous diamond alternative engagement ring.
