This Victorian ring is set with three (3) natural seed pearls that are creamy and white, and two (2) bright red synthetic red rubies.
The pearl has astrological associations with the planet Venus. Like pearls, the goddess of love emerged from the sea. Other legends indicate that the white pearls are tears shed by the gods.
I don't know about tears of the gods, but if you miss out on this ring it might bring you to tears.
The ring is made out of 10K Yellow gold. The top of the ring is 7mm wide and tapers down to 3mm at the bottom of the shank. The ring is stamped on the inside of the shank for metal purity and manufacturers hallmark. The ring is stamped 10K JIC. I have not found any information on the manufacturer.
Synthetic rubies has been commercially available since 1903. Auguste Verneuil announced he could produce synthetic rubies on a commercial scale using this flame fusion process, later also known as the Verneuil process.
