Appraised Art Deco Engagement Ring / Old European Cut Diamond Engagement Ring / Stunning OEC Diamond Ring

This beautiful engagement ring is just a stunner. The centre stone is an Old European Cut diamond and it sparkles and is truly lively. The Old European cut diamond or “Old Euro Cut” was the primary diamond shape used in the Art Deco Era. An old European cut diamond is a round diamond primarily cut between 1890-1930. These antique diamonds were one of the predecessors to the modern round brilliant cut diamond, which is now the most popular diamond shape. Old European cut diamonds have 58 facets; modern round cut diamonds have 57-58 facets depending on whether or not they have a culet.

These antique diamonds have a special charm because diamond cutters had to rely on their eyes rather than modern technology to hand-cut them, making each stone unique.

The ring is set in both 14K and 18K gold. The 14K is the white gold holding the stones, the 18K is the yellow gold shank. The gold hallmark is stamped on the inside of the shank.
