Engraved Silver Locket / Hand Engraved Oval Silver Locket / Floral Engraved Locket

This lovely engraved locket is a wonderful vintage keepsake that is as timeless today as when it was first manufactured.

The locket is large enough that you can fit a good size picture and has the original silver frame that holds the photo in place.

The floral engraving on the front has two (2) forget-me-not flowers engraved with romantic swirls and ferns. As the name suggests forget-me-not flowers were a popular engraving as it recalls romance and lovers. In the language of flowers, ferns generally symbolize magic, fascination, confidence, and shelter. Specific types of ferns carry additional meanings, like the maidenhair fern, which represents a secret bond of love and discretion. Ferns also symbolize new life, growth, and eternal youth in various cultures. 

This locket has a manufacturer's tool mark also engraved on the inside, quite hidden but also tells a story. On the inside of the locket you can see the number 106 engraved on the inside. This is called a manufacturer's tool mark where a workman would engrave his number so should there be a need for repair, they know who was the workman.

The locket is on a 16 inch box chain that is strong and sturdy. And the silver bail is also quite sweet with the silver bow detail.

The back of the bail is marked STERLING. This is also a sign that this is an old locket, as contemporary lockets would mark that as 925.
