This beautiful Art Deco ring brings you back to an era of Glamour and Ritz. Nestled into the centre of this fabulous ring is a natural diamond, which gives a classic ring a bit of shine.

The ring is made in 10K yellow gold and has a gold border surrounding the black onyx and the base of the ring and shank is Sterling Silver. The ring is authentic to the period and is not a modern remake.

The name Onyx comes from the Greek word which means nail of a finger or claw. Legend says that one day while Venus was sleeping Eros/Cupid cut her fingernails and left the clippings scattered on the ground. Because no part of a heavenly body can die, the gods turned them into stone which later became known as onyx.

The gold has a lovely design and it sits elegantly on the finger. It has engraved shoulder and the details are typical of the  Art Deco period.

The ring is hallmarked on the inside of the shank and is marked 10K GOLD SIDES TOP. The other side of the shank is marked STERLING. This is typical of the period especially in the 1930s during the Great Depression. To keep the cost of luxuries down sterling silver was used in combination with gold to keep the items affordable.

The diamond is natural earth mined and is estimated to weigh 0.02 cts.
