Sapphire Ring / Blue Sapphire Solitaire Ring / September Birthstone Ring / Natural Sapphire Ring
Sapphires have been associated with many legends and lore throughout history. In ancient Greece and Rome, kings and queens believed sapphires would protect them from harm and envy. Along with being seen as a sacred gem, Sapphires were often associated with healing. They were said to act as an antidote to poisons, but they were especially used to heal eye complaints.
All I know is that if you've been looking for a great sapphire ring for a while, then this ring is a sight for sore eyes. However I believe that the legends are incorrect, as this ring might make you the envy of your friends.
This ring is set with a natural sapphire that measures 6mm x 4mm which is an estimated 0.60 cts. This sapphire is great as it has a tell tale sign that the sapphire is natural. The centre stone has natural colour zoning which are areas or bands of alternating colour in a gemstone. Colour zoning occurs naturally during the formation of the crystal and is quite common in the rough form. The cutting of the sapphire was expertly done to diminish the colour zoning and makes the colour appear consistent and blue.
This ring is set in yellow gold with a blue sapphire. It would make a wonderful gift for someone to celebrate their September birthday, as historically Sapphire is the birthstone for September.
The gold is marked 10K on the underside of the ring.
The ring is in wonderful condition given it's vintage age. The stone is well secure in the prongs.
