Vintage Lindy Star Sapphire Ring / 1950s Vintage Blue Star Sapphire / Synthetic Star Sapphire Ring / Synthetic Sapphire
The Linde Division of the Union Carbide Corporation in the United States first began lab-producing and marketing their star sapphires in the late 1940s. The stone is cut in a smooth cabochon setting with no facets, which enhances the appearance of the star.
This vintage blue star sapphire is a lab created sapphire. The star is very strong and is seen clearly in direct light. In the shade, the stone is a soothing blue colour and is further enhanced by the six (6) diamonds surrounding the pear shaped sapphire.
The sapphire is a cabochon pear shaped and it measures 6mm x 4mm and is estimated to weigh 0.35 cts.
Linde patented their star sapphires in November of 1949. Production was discontinued in 1974 due to overseas competition.
This ring is from the 1950s and is in excellent condition given it's age. The ring is hallmarked on the inside of the shank is 10K White Gold. The ring is stamped 10K HM. HM is the manufacturer's trademark.
