Art Deco Diamond Engagement Ring / White Gold Filigree Diamond Ring / Antique Engagement Ring

$580.00
SKU RIN-25-0041

Filigree jewelry has been popular for thousands of years, with roots in ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome. However, its popularity surged during the Victorian era, particularly in the late 1800s, and again in the early 20th century, specifically during the Art Deco period. It continues to be a cherished style today, known for its intricate, delicate designs.

The word "filigree" comes from the Latin words "filum," meaning "thread," and "granum," meaning "grain." Filigree jewellery has been made for centuries, and its history can be traced back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

This ring is set with a "Transition Cut Diamond". Transitional cut diamonds emerged as a bridge between old European cuts and modern round brilliant cuts, primarily during the 1920s to the 1940s. This period saw advancements in diamond cutting technology, leading to more symmetrical and brilliant stones than their predecessors, but not yet matching the perfection of modern cuts.

The diamond is a round cut and measures 2mm around and is estimated to weigh 0.03 cts. It is set in an illusion setting so it appears much larger than it really is.

The filigree looks like delicate lace, but it is made out of 14K White gold. It is not stamped on the inside of the shank but tested as 14K.

The filigree is very romantic with floral elements that resemble orchids and forget-me-nots which is often a very popular motif in engagement and wedding jewelry. The ring is  very comfortable to wear and would make a wonderful engagement ring.
